The Township of Springwater's Official Plan sets out land use policies for growth and development in the municipality.

Official Plan Review (OPR)

The plan is a “living document” and updates ensure that the plan continues to meet local needs, the County of Simcoe's Official Plan and Ontario's Planning Act.

The Planning Act requires every municipality to update its Official Plan at least once every five years.

Subject to the adoption of the new Official Plan, final approval from the County of Simcoe is required in order for the document to come into full-force and effect.

Take Notice that the Township of Springwater in collaboration with the County of Simcoe will hold an Open House for OP2051:

Time: 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Place: In-person – Township Administration Centre

The Open House is intended to provide for informal discussion regarding the process and information completed to date in support of the Township’s Official Plan 2051. Members of the public and stakeholders are encouraged to view information boards and discuss the project with staff members on an informal basis.

The purpose and effect of the Township’s Official Plan Update is to implement changes to effectively manage growth to 2051 and implement the findings of the Growth Management Study, including the Settlement Area Boundary Expansion of Midhurst for Employment Lands. The Township is also utilizing this opportunity to align the Township’s Official Plan with changes made through Provincial and County legislation.

At this time, a Growth Management Study 2026 has been prepared, presented and endorsed by Township Council. Study and supporting documents are available for review below.

The Official Plan 2051 webpage will continue to be updated as additional material becomes available prior to the Open House. All materials will also be available for review at the Township Administration Centre.

Take notice that the Council of The Corporation of the Township of Springwater passed By-law 2023-075 to adopt a new Official Plan for the Township of Springwater, subject to approval by the County of Simcoe, on the 5th day of July 2023, pursuant to Section 17(22) of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, as amended.
