Current Initiatives

The Township of Springwater adopted its first Economic Development Strategy in June 2010.  The strategy, which was developed through extensive public and stakeholder consultation, identifies five key goals to improve prosperity within Springwater over the subsequent five years.

Since adopted, the Economic Development Working Group (EDWG) along with staff have been working to implement the various action items in order to achieve the overall goals of the plan.

Economic Development Strategy Goals and Key Objectives

Economic Development staff are currently working on the following large scale initiatives:

Community Improvement Plan

Council has endorsed a new Community Improvement Plan (CIP) for the Township. A Community Improvement Plan allows municipalities to establish grants, loans, incentives and other programs to encourage private sector investment in development and renovation efforts that seek to improve and revitalize areas or achieve local goals and priorities

The Community Improvement Plan endorsed by Council includes 8 programs:

  • Façade Improvement Program
  • Signage Improvement Program
  • Building, Restoration, Renovation and Improvement Program
  • Development Charge Rebate Program
  • Planning and Building Permit Fee Rebate Program
  • Heritage Improvement Program
  • Tax Increment Equivalent Financing Program
  • Accessibility Improvement Program

Each program will have a maximum funding amount, specific and general eligibility criteria and a review process to determine appropriateness. Council will have the option of activating and de-activating programs as they see fit, during the annual review of budget.

Business Directory

Midhurst PharmacyNicholyn FarmsJim Bertram & Sons
Township staff are currently in the process of updating our online business directory. Our goal is to create an easily accessible database of local Springwater businesses; big or small.

The Township has featured a business directory on the municipal website for quite some time now, however it has not been used or marketed to its full potential. As such, Springwater is making an effort to relaunch the directory to better support local businesses. The directory provides a free location for business owners/operators to advertise their business to both local residents and visitors of the municipality.

The Springwater Directory can be found here.

If you own a business within the Township of Springwater, and would like to advertise your business online through the Springwater Business Directory, visit the business directory page and select ‘Add Business’.
