The Township of Springwater is governed by a seven-member elected Council. Council is comprised of a Mayor and Deputy Mayor, elected at large by the whole Township, and five Ward Councillors (one elected per ward).

In addition to the above committees and meetings, the Mayor and Deputy Mayor are appointed to the County of Simcoe as County Councillors, with other Heads of Council from 16 municipalities that comprise the County of Simcoe. Meetings are scheduled during the daytime
The Township Council Chamber is located at the Township of Springwater Administration Centre, 2231 Nursery Road, Minesing ON, L9X 1A8. Meetings commence at 6:30 pm, and members of the public are most welcome to attend.

Closed Meeting Investigator
The Township appointed the Ontario Ombudsman to investigate public complaints about government services, and investigates complaints about closed municipal meetings. Should you have a concern about a meeting of the Township, you are encouraged to confidentially speak with the Township Clerk to address questions, however you may also file directly with the Ombudsman’s Office.

(a)the security of the property of the municipality or local board;
(b) personal matters about an identifiable individual, including municipal or local board employees;
(c) a proposed or pending acquisition or disposition of land by the municipality or local board;
(d) labour relations or employee negotiations;
(e) litigation or potential litigation, including matters before administrative tribunals, affecting the municipality or local board;
(f) advice that is subject to solicitor-client privilege, including communications necessary for that purpose;
(g) a matter in respect of which a council, board, committee or other body may hold a closed meeting under another Act.
