Building Services

Building Services oversees the issuance of building and pool enclosure permits. Additionally, it is responsible for implementing the Township's Septic Re-Inspection Program and manages municipal addresses.

Building Permit Regulations

A building permit is a means of regulating development in the community so that health, fire, structural and general safety standards to protect individuals and the community as a whole, are met. It is illegal to start work without a permit. Anyone who starts work without a building permit is in contravention of municipal by-law and the Building Code Act and is therefore subject to financial and legal consequences.

The municipal Building By-law incorporates rules, regulations and fee information regarding building permits.

Under the direction of the Chief Building Official, Building Services authorizes and regulates the issuance of Building Permits in compliance with the Ontario Building Code, as mended, Township By-laws and other municipal requirements.

Funding Opportunity

The Lake Simcoe & Southeast Georgian Bay Community Stewardship Program (LSGBCSP) has introduced a new funding opportunity to encourage landowners to engage in stewardship activities that will improve the overall health of their watershed. Projects may include replacement of failed septic systems, lakeshore and stream shoreline restorations, riparian planting, naturalization, buffer enhancements and more.

Access to program support is initiated through workshop attendance and the completion of an individualized environmental action plan that is contained within the Lake Simcoe or Georgian Bay Stewardship Guide (free). Once the guide and action plan have been completed, the applicant will be eligible to apply for funding of their project.

Septic Re-Inspection Program

The Township of Springwater is undertaking a Septic Re-Inspection Program to ensure the safety of our lakes and drinking water is not compromised.
