Simcoe County has tons of beautiful trails for riders to enjoy! Vehicles must meet Regulation 316/03 of the Highway Traffic Act. By-law 2020-013 and By-law 2021-040 regulate off-road vehicles on municipal highways in the Township of Springwater.
Trails
To ride on trails in Springwater you must be a member of the Central Ontario ATV Club (COATV) or Simcoe County Off-Road Riders Association (SCORRA). Visit their websites for detailed trail maps or to purchase a membership.
Roads
Off-road vehicles are permitted on municipal roads in Springwater with a few exceptions. There are four sections of municipal roads that remain restricted for off-road vehicle use:

Carson Road from Anne Street North to Bayfield Street North

Doran Road from Finlay Mill Road to Gill Road

Finlay Mill Road from Bayfield Street North to Doran Road

St. Vincent Street from the City of Barrie Limits to Pooles Road
- The North Simcoe Rail Trail is off limits in its entirety.
- The Old Penetanguishene Trail is off limits in its entirety.
- All Provincial and County of Simcoe roads remain restricted for off-road vehicles use.
- Unopened road allowances remain restricted.
The Ontario Provincial Police patrol the trails and respond to complaints and accidents in the area. When stopped by police or a conservation officer, you must produce a:
- driver’s license, when required
- registration permit
- proof of insurance
If found riding the trails without a trails permit, you may be charged with trespassing under the Trespass to Property Act.
To help residents better understand where ORVs are and are not permitted, the Township has renewed its Off-Road Vehicle Outreach Program in partnership with the Central Ontario ATV Club (COATV), Simcoe County Off-Road Riders Association (SCORRA) and the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP). Stationed at trailheads throughout the Township, representatives from each organization will meet with riders directly on the trail to provide information on rider safety, insurance and licensing; as well as where to ride as per provincial and municipal legislation and rider memberships.
The Outreach Program will run on:
- June 1 at 1150 Nursery Road, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
- June 8 at 1487 Crossland Road, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
- June 22 at Flos Road 7 in Hillsdale, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
- July 13 at Flos Road 3 West (entrance to trails), 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Off-road motorized vehicle clubs
