The Township of Springwater is advising residents, commuters, and visitors that CPKC has completed the emergency repairs at the Midhurst railway crossing located on Highway 26 in Springwater.

Traffic is now able to proceed through the area; however, motorists are reminded to continue to use caution, obey all posted signage, and watch for any remaining roadside or rail-related personnel or equipment that may still be present as crews demobilize.

The Township of Springwater is advising residents and commuters that the CPKC Midhurst railway crossing located on Highway 26 in Springwater has malfunctioned and will require emergency repairs.

Motorists are asked to avoid the crossing area and re-route their travel using alternate roads, as delays and traffic disruptions are expected while repairs are completed.

The significant weather event, previously declared on January 23, 2026, has been lifted for the Township of Springwater. As a result, standard timelines for winter maintenance will begin again.

The significant weather event was declared on January 23, 2026, under Ontario’s Minimum Maintenance Standards for Municipal Highways (Ontario Regulation 239/02), due to weather conditions affecting roads and sidewalks that are maintained by the Township of Springwater. 

Please be advised that all roads within the Township of Springwater have reopened following the temporary closures put in place on January 23, 2026, due to extreme weather conditions.

While the roads are now passable, please be advised that the significant weather event remains in effect. We urge all residents to remain cautious while traveling.
