The Township of Springwater's Official Plan sets out land use policies for growth and development in the municipality.
Official Plan Review (OPR)
The plan is a “living document” and updates ensure that the plan continues to meet local needs, the County of Simcoe's Official Plan and Ontario's Planning Act.
The Planning Act requires every municipality to update its Official Plan at least once every five years. The process for our current review includes:

The project team presented the first draft version of the Township's New Official Plan and Land Use Schedules at a Special Council Meeting on September 7, 2022. Below find the draft documents which have been released for review:

Next Steps
The Draft Official Plan and Land Use Schedules have been released for review and comment. As a next step, the public and interested stakeholders will have the opportunity to provide comments on the draft policies. Comments are requested by Friday, December 23, 2022, to be considered in the final Draft Official Plan to be brought forward to Council for adoption in 2023.

Applying for an Official Plan Amendment
If your plans for developing your property aren't consistent with the Official Plan, you will need to apply for an Official Plan Amendment. More information on this process is available through a consultation with planning staff.
