Council supports a new location for the Elmvale & District Food Bank
The Food Bank requested assistance to construct a new facility since demand for their services has steadily increased since 2013. Their current location at the Elmvale Community Hall does not meet storage, privacy and operational needs for the staff and their clients.
The proposed 3,000 sq. ft. facility at 62 Yonge Street North will include a waiting/reception area, washroom, interview room for clients, staff room, food preparation/packing room, cold storage and a warehouse area. The facility will be constructed with a large shipping/receiving door with a sloped ramp to allow for off-loading
The Township will make a one-time capital contribution towards the construction of the new facility.
