The Township of Springwater is pleased to announce that we are moving forward with the construction work at the Midhurst Union Cemetery (1444 St. Vincent Street) for phase one of development. Construction will begin on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 and conclude at the end of June. Construction work will generally be performed during the week from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Water will be shut off at the cemetery until completion of the project to accommodate for the replacement of the waterline.
What: Phase 1 of development includes site demolition, rough grading, topsoil and fine grading, tree and shrub preservation, sodding, installation of columbaria and foundation, and installation of replacement waterline.
When: Work will begin in May and last approximately two months, weather permitting.
Where: On the north side of the cemetery, in the open and treed area across from the winter storage vault.
- Additional casket burial sites
- Cremation garden with two wall columbaria, memorial benches and planting
The cemetery is still open to the public, but access may be restricted based on the work being performed. The Township will continue to accommodate funeral services. Proper care will be shown by the contractor in site preparation in order to limit the effect of construction work on the cemetery grounds. Appropriate respect will be shown to monuments and grave sites at all times.
