Township of Springwater / February 7, 2025 – Just before 3:00 p.m. on Friday, February 7, 2025, Springwater Fire & Emergency Services received reports of a structure fire on Penetanguishene Road.
Two stations and two additional tankers, as well as firefighters from Barrie Fire & Emergency Services responded. Upon arrival, crews observed heavy fire along the main floor. Crews completed a fast attack and managed to knock down the fire quickly.
One individual was transported to Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre and treated for smoke inhalation. A number of pets were rescued from the residence, however sadly one dog and one bird perished.
“Crews made an aggressive attack upon arrival and were able to get the fire under control quickly, despite challenging weather conditions,” says Deputy Fire Chief Jeff French. “Thank you to our partners at Barrie Fire for their automatic aid assistance today.”
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, however is not considered suspicious. Damage is estimated at $300,000. Springwater Fire remains on scene completing overhaul.
