Springwater has a vibrant history with features and properties that reflect our natural and cultural heritage. Some of these properties are designated under the Ontario Heritage Act, and many are identified in the Township's Heritage Register.
Designated properties
Springwater has 15 designated heritage properties, including buildings, trails and natural features. These properties are officially designated under Section 29 of the Ontario Heritage Act.

Heritage register
The Township maintains a:
- Register of heritage properties individually designated under Part IV of the Ontario Heritage Act
- Register for properties of cultural heritage value or interest, which are not designated (also called "listed" properties)
Springwater Heritage Advisory Committee
In 2022, the Heritage Advisory Committee was amalgamated with the Cultural Advisory Committee, forming the new Cultural and Heritage Advisory Committee. This revitalized Committee is dedicated to the preservation of historical, cultural, and natural heritage within the Township of Springwater. The Committee convenes five times per year to discuss relevant matters and strategic initiatives. Façade guidelines
Façade guidelines help ensure the retention and conservation of heritage in the Elmvale Commercial District. These guidelines oversee new development and restorations to existing properties. Read the Elmvale Commercial District Façade Guidelines for details.
