Although COVID-19 is preventing us from hosting our traditional Christmas events or public gatherings, organizations throughout the Township want to make this year as magical as ever and have come up with creative ways to celebrate the holiday season this year.
|Light Up Springwater|
Organizations and businesses around Springwater have joined together to make this year merry and bright with beautiful lights and displays. Download the map, gather your family together, hop in the car and take a magical tour through Springwater. This is a self-driving tour, which can be done at your own leisure. We will ‘Light Up Springwater’ each evening at dusk from December 12-24.
|Santa’s Firetruck Tour|
December 23 & 24
Join the Firefighter Associations for this yearly tradition! Firefighters and Santa Claus will drive through the neighbourhoods of Springwater spreading cheer and goodwill wherever they go. The firefighters will be out in Elmvale and Phelpston on December 23 and visit Anten Mills, Midhurst, Minesing, Grenfel, Centre Vespra, Snow Valley and Hillsdale on December 24. Donations for the Food Bank will not be collected during the Santa Run this year due to current COVID-19 restrictions
| Virtual Tree Lighting
December 5 at 6:30 p.m.
Join the Midhurst Community Recreation Association as they officially kick off the Christmas season in Midhurst. While it isn’t possible to gather in person this year, they will be live streaming their tree lighting on their social media pages: XmasinMidhurst (Instagram, Facebook and Twitter). Make some hot chocolate, sit back and enjoy the tree lighting from the comfort of your own home!
Festival of Lights
As a new event this year, the Midhurst Festival of Lights will help spread Christmas cheer in the village. Send a photo of your Christmas lights to ChristmasInMidhurst@gmail.com to be featured on the midhurston.ca website. Vote for your favourites beginning on December. All of the participating properties will be mapped out so that families can take a drive to view the lights in the village.
Christmas Eve Bells
On Christmas Eve step out onto your front porch and ring your bells as we celebrate Christmas in our community. Take a video and post it to social media with the hashtag #ChristmasInMidhurst to help spread the cheer!
Virtual Tree Lighting
The Anten Mills Community Recreation Association will be kicking off the festive season with a virtual tree lighting and light displays at the Community Hall. Be sure to join the festivities on the Anten Mills Community Bulletin Facebook page. Rumor is that Santa Claus may be making a special appearance to flip the switch and light up the community.
