Upcoming Hillsdale Standpipe Repairs and Temporary Water Restrictions
The Township of Springwater is advising residents in Hillsdale of upcoming water standpipe repairs beginning Monday, April 20, 2026.
On March 2, 2026, a leak was identified at the base of the Hillsdale water standpipe. A temporary repair was completed at the time. The Township is now proceeding with a permanent repair.
Beginning Monday, April 20, 2026, the Hillsdale water standpipe will be taken offline to complete this work. The water standpipe is expected to be out of service for approximately two weeks, pending final testing before it returns to operation. While the standpipe is offline, a portable backup water storage tank will support the system to help maintain water availability during periods of peak demand, including in the event of a fire. Residents will be notified though the Township’s social media and website when the repairs have been completed and the water standpipe is fully operational.
During this time mandatory water use restrictions and an outdoor fire ban are in effect for all Hillsdale residents and businesses. To confirm if you are impacted, view the Hillsdale water system map, by visiting Explore Springwater.
A complete outdoor fire ban is in effect across the Hillsdale community for the duration of the repairs, beginning on Monday, April 20, 2026, until otherwise posted. For complete details, visit www.springwater.ca/fire
While the Hillsdale water standpipe is offline, fire suppression and emergency response coverage remain in place. Springwater Fire and Emergency Services have implemented contingency measures, including the use of tanker trucks.
Residents and businesses are required to reduce water use and avoid all non-essential water activities during this time. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Outdoor watering
- Filling pools or hot tubs
- Car washing and pressure washing
- Power washing buildings, driveways or equipment
- Any other high-volume or discretionary water.
Only essential indoor water use for drinking water, cooking and sanitation should be maintained.
Residents may experience:
- Temporary drops in water pressure
- Possible discolouration of tap water
These conditions are normal during maintenance activities. If you notice discolouration, run your cold water tap for a few minutes until it clears.
Further updates regarding the repairs to the Hillsdale water standpipe will be shared, through the Township’s official channels, as they become available.
