Hillsdale Water Restrictions and Fire Ban Beginning April 20

The Township of Springwater is advising Hillsdale residents and businesses that the Hillsdale water standpipe will be taken offline beginning Monday, April 20, 2026, to complete permanent repairs following a leak identified earlier this year.

As a result, mandatory water use restrictions and an outdoor fire ban will be in effect in Hillsdale for the duration of the repair period.

The standpipe is expected to be out of service for approximately two weeks, pending final testing before returning to operation. During this time, a portable backup water storage tank will support the system to help maintain water availability during peak demand and emergency response.

The Township of Springwater charges user fees for a variety of services. Most services are covered through the collection of property taxes, however, in some cases we charge a direct user fee to those benefitting from the single use service.

In 2022, the Township retained Watson & Associates Economists Ltd. to complete a review of the Township’s user fees to determine the full cost of services provided and recommend a fee structure that would balance the Township’s cost recovery and decrease the tax burden while also considering affordability and competitiveness of the market.
