Fees and by-law

Development Charge By-law 2023-070 apply one-time development fees on new development or redevelopment so that the cost of providing new infrastructure is not borne fully by existing taxpayers. Rates are indexed annually on January 1. The By-laws also includes area specific development charge.

Development charge background study

The Development Charges Act requires that a background study be prepared to determine fees based on current service levels and the forecasted amount, type and location of future development within the municipality. Notice of Passing of Municipal Wide Development Charges By-law

Take notice that the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Springwater passed municipal-wide Development Charges By-law No. 2023-070 on the 21st day of June, 2023 under section 2(1) of the Development Charges Act, 1997, S.P 1997 c.27, as amended;

And Take Notice that any person or organization may appeal to the Ontario Land Tribunal under section 14 of the Act, in respect of the development charges by-law, by filing with the Clerk of the Township of Springwater on or before July 31, 2023 a notice of appeal setting out the objection to the by-law and the reasons supporting the objection.
