Springwater Fire and Emergency Services works with Simcoe County Paramedic Services and Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) to protect our community. Our fire department has over 90 volunteer firefighters, supported by a full-time Fire Chief, Deputy Fire Chief, Training Officer and Fire Prevention Officer. Services include:

Springwater Fire and Emergency Services is committed to the delivery of excellence in customer service for the residents of the Township of Springwater through fire prevention, public education, emergency response and community service.
Springwater Fire and Emergency Services strives for a higher level of competence and professionalism through continuing education, training and teamwork to meet the needs of the customer and growth within the community.
Springwater Fire & Emergency Services is a composite fire department with a compliment of five full-time staff and approximately 100 volunteer firefighters operating out of four fire stations located in Elmvale, Hillsdale, Midhurst and Minesing and protecting an area of 536.3 square kilometres.
The department’s core services include fire prevention/inspections/code enforcement, public education and emergency response. To assist in mitigating the fires in our communities, the Fire Prevention Division delivers fire prevention programs such as Learn Not to Burn, Older Wiser, Play Safe Be Safe, Ask Sparky and TAPP-C. The division also partakes in Fire Prevention Week and many other events throughout the year.
The Operations Division responds to many types of emergencies such as, but not limited to, medical emergencies, fires, motor vehicle collisions, hazardous material response and shore-based water incidents.
Through the Training Division, the dedicated men and women of the department are well-trained and certified to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards. They are also committed to providing excellence in customer service and professionalism. In closing, I would ask all residents to exercise sound fire safety practices by ensuring working smoke alarms on every level of your home, installing carbon monoxide alarms and having a home escape plan that is practiced by all family members on an annual basis. Fire hydrants must have at least 1.2 metres of space around them at all times. If you have a hydrant close to your property, please keep it clear of snow, trees and other vegetation.
The Tanker Shuttle Accreditation is an equivalency to the minimum requirements for hydrant protection as set out by the insurance industry. The requirements for this accreditation are stringent and verify that the fire protection district is capable of delivering the minimum accepted fire flows to detached dwellings throughout the fire protection district within 8 km by road of all Fire Stations and 5 km by road of a water supply point.
Combined with intergovernmental assistance, our Emergency Management team implements our Emergency Response Plan and raises awareness in the community about emergency preparedness.
A Fire Report or a Letter of Compliance are available upon written request and payment of the applicable fee. Requests can be submitted through the Fire Report and Compliance Request online form.
