Notice of Nomination for Office

Nominations in the Township of Springwater for the following Offices will be accepted as described below:

• Mayor - One (1) to be elected at large (Also appointed to County Council)
• Deputy Mayor - One (1) to be elected at large (Also appointed to County Council)
• Ward Councillor - One (1) to be elected in each of the five (5) Wards
• Simcoe County District School Board Trustee* (English Language Public School District #17) One (1) to be elected by Ward
• Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board Trustee* (English Language Separate School District #44) One (1) to be elected by Ward
• Conseil scolaire Viamonde Trustee* (French Language Public School District #58) One (1) to be elected by Ward
• Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir Trustee* (French Language Separate School District #64) One (1) to be elected by Ward

Nominations may be made by completing and filing in the office of the Clerk, on the prescribed forms and accompanied by the prescribed nomination filing fee of $200.00 for the Head of Council and $100 for all other offices. The filing fee is payable by cash, certified cheque, money order, or interact debit. Credit cards and personal cheques will not be accepted. Candidate information packages, including all required forms will be made available at the Township Administration Centre or electronically on the Township website no later than Friday, May 1, 2026 at www.springwater.ca/election

A nomination must be signed by the candidate and may be filed in person or by an agent during regular business hours, by appointment only (Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.) between May 1, 2026 and August 20, 2026, and also between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 21, 2026 (Nomination Day).

In the event there are an insufficient number of certified candidates to fill all positions available, nominations will be reopened for the vacant positions only on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. and such additional nominations if required, may be filed in the office of the Clerk.

Electors are hereby given notice that if a greater number of candidates are certified than are required to fill the said offices, voting will be opened on the dates stated below for the purpose of voting.
